When I tell you I ATE this book up, I’m not exaggerating. I finished it in around 5 hours on and off.
I’m talking about a wild ride with a half-demon demon hunter named Lady, roaming the streets with her fierce crew of demon slayers, hell-bent on sending those wicked beings back where they belong. Lady’s life hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows, bounced around foster homes and facing abuse at every turn, but when she joins forces with Aiden and his demon-slaying squad, she finally finds a place she can call home. But wait, buckle up, ’cause things take a wicked turn when a dark and seductive demon approaches Lady, asking for her help to overthrow the wicked Queen of demons. Now, that’s one hell of an unlikely partnership that kicks off this thrilling tale!
“I lived every day ready to die. I’m not going to start worrying about that now”
Words can’t describe how much I love Lady. Lady is fierce, bold, and she gives absolutely zero fucks! She’s got this no-nonsense attitude, no filters to hold her back, and I’m living for it. You won’t find any miscommunication drama here because Lady tells it like it is, straight up! She does whatever she damn well pleases, and that’s what makes her a standout character for me. Seriously, ain’t nobody got time for miscommunication in a good book!
Now, let’s talk about Nova, the stunningly seductive demon. Oh, he’s got his charm, those witty one-liners that leave you weak at the knees, but my heart is set on Fable. Oh, Fable, you captivating creature! He’s funny, charming, passionate, and sexy as sin. Picture the character Franklin from True Blood, but minus the homicidal tendencies. My only gripe? I wish Fable showed up more often than just the last 20-30%. Can we please get a whole book dedicated to him someday? Pretty please?

But oh, let’s not forget the world-building! It’s a dark, gritty, and urban fantasy dream come true. Those Illusion scenes? Absolutely mesmerising! They’ll take you on a steamy, cozy, and seductive journey all at once. Sure, they might seem a tad confusing at first, but trust me, they quickly become some of the most cherished parts of this adventure.
Spicy scenes, anyone? 🔥 Oh, this book brings the heat, alright! It’s a solid 🌶️🌶️ out of 5 on the spice scale. But hey, don’t fret, there’s more to this tale than just steamy moments. The plot is the star of the show, and it works wonders! But let’s talk about those spicy scenes—bloody spicy! Move over, other vampire books, ’cause this one has ’em beat! I’m talking seductive, dark, and, believe it or not, even funny at times. Can we talk about that epic battle plan meeting between Nova and Lady during their intimate escapades? Pure genius, my friend!
Now, don’t think I’m spoiling anything, but you can see some of those twists coming from a mile away. But you know what? It doesn’t take away from the sheer enjoyment of this rollercoaster. It’s like a cosy comfort, knowing things might unfold as expected. Yet, brace yourself, ’cause the ending? Unexpected and an absolute highlight! Though, I must admit, it did leave me craving for more, it felt like things weren’t finished, y’know? Who wouldn’t want more of such an addictive story?
This was my first taste of Brianna West’s work, and honey, I’m kicking myself for not finding it sooner! The book was an absolute delight—a tantalising blend of humor, seduction, tension, and gripping moments that left me needing more. Seriously, I’m crossing my fingers for another book in this series or even a standalone centered around Fable! I’d devour that like it’s the last slice of my favorite cake! 😍
