Oh, wow, what a wild ride! I can’t believe it, but Fourth Wing has become my absolute favorite, hands down. If there were six stars to give, this book would get them all!
Let me take a moment to mentally recover because I’m still in awe of this incredible read. I finished it ten days ago, and I’ve been dying to share my thoughts with the world.
Step into the electrifying world of Basgiath War College, a place of cutthroat dragon riders. Meet our protagonist, the amazing Violet Sorrengail, destined for the Scribe Quadrant. But guess what? Life has other plans for her, as she’s unexpectedly thrown into the race to become an elite dragon rider by her tough-as-nails mother. With her seemingly fragile physique, bonding with dragons appears impossible, and the odds are stacked against her. But, oh boy, get ready for an adventure like no other!
“A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead.”
From the very first 20 pages of Fourth Wing, I was completely h o o k e d, and that’s a first for me! Violet’s character captured my heart instantly. She’s a tiny but mighty force to be reckoned with, overcoming her disability and embracing every challenge that comes her way. As she enrolls at Basgiath and takes on her first daring challenge, I felt like I was right there beside her, cheering her on. The world-building is skillfully crafted, and the author ensures we’re never lost in the complexities of this fascinating realm.

Violet is an absolute powerhouse – sassy, caring, charming, and a total badass. She doesn’t take any nonsense from anyone, yet she remains incredibly caring, kind, and compassionate even when others don’t deserve it. And let’s not forget Xaden, the brooding MMC who’s more than meets the eye. He’s such a deep and complex character that I couldn’t help but fall in love with him too. Together, Violet and Xaden create an electric chemistry that made me melt every time their eyes locked from across the room. 🔥 Lord, give me strength because I was so not prepared for the sizzling romance! 🥵🥵
“But I will not run. I wouldn’t be standing here if I’d quit every time something seemed impossible to overcome. I will not die today.”
But you know what surprised me the most? How much I fell head over heels for the Dragons! Yes, you heard it right. These majestic creatures stole my heart, and Tairn, in particular, is a whole mood. The dialogues with the dragons were pure gold, and I found myself giggling like a child throughout those interactions.

Though the book is around 400 pages, every single one of them is filled with action, information, and funnies! There’s not a single dull moment, and I was utterly entranced from start to finish. Rebecca’s writing style is nothing short of brilliant; she knows how to keep readers engaged and entertained.
Now, brace yourselves because the last sentence of this book absolutely BROKE me! Rebecca, how could you leave us hanging like that? The suspense and anticipation for the next installment are killing me, and I can’t believe we have to wait until November to find out what happens next. That plot twist was something I never saw coming – AT ALL.
“Coming in last is better than coming in dead.”
Are the tropes in Fourth Wing entirely original? Not really, but let me tell you, it doesn’t matter one bit. The way the story is presented and the sheer enjoyment I derived from every page make this book stand out among my all-time favorites. I’m already craving the next book like a dragon craves treasure!
Overall, Fourth Wing is a rollercoaster of emotions and adventure that left me absolutely breathless. It’s a fantasy gem that deserves all the love and praise. I wholeheartedly recommend it to every book lover out there. Do yourself a favor and dive into the captivating world of Basgiath War College. You won’t regret it!
